Coding & Robotics
ZOF sponsors courses for youths in coding and robotics via its partnership with The Maker Club to equip low-income students with:
A baseline knowledge of coding and robotics and a portfolio of work they can then use to apply to university, for an internship/entry-level job in Zimbabwe, or for remote Software engineering jobs internationally
Better problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which ZOF Africa assesses quantitatively and qualitatively
Like every ZOF Africa programme, coding courses are always monitored and evaluated through feedback from beneficiaries, progress reports, and regular assessments. The beneficiaries are encouraged to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the program and any areas for improvement. Progress reports are prepared to track the number of beneficiaries, the number of laptops distributed, and the number of courses completed. Regular assessments are conducted to evaluate the impact of the program on the beneficiaries' education and future prospects.
Donating used laptops
Since 2021, we have collected and donated more than 50 used laptops to provide underprivileged youths in Zimbabwe with access to technology to help further their education. This initiative is an effort to bridge the digital divide and provide equal opportunities for young people in Zimbabwe to access education and build better futures.
ZOF Africa offers to pair the laptop donations with coding courses. After the courses, some laptops may be gifted to the top performing students. All other laptops will be kept for the next student cohort’s coding courses.
Please consider donating your company’s used laptops to ZOF if you are in the UK or Europe. For more information, please contact gfleming@zofafrica.org or trueckel@zofafrica.org.
